Teaching

ENGG1500

This first year course helps students develop a range of practical, software and design skills. The main purpose of the course is to introduce students to the engineering process, by allowing teams to design and build a semi-autonomous vehicle. This is demonstrated through the ability of the vehicle to completely transverse an obstacle course.

ENGG2440

This second year course presents students with the basic modelling and control knowledge which they will build on in subsequent courses. Electrical, mechanical and fluid systems are studied, and the ways in which to analyse the interconnection of each. The methods to analyse and control such systems are then presented, including linearisation, Bode plots, Nyquist diagrams, and PID control design.

ENGG2500

This second year general engineering course is designed to teach students to think like engineers, as opposed to simply following a set of instructions or design rules. The assignments are based around analysing projects on a lifetime scale, and are open-ended to allow students the opportunity to think outside the box. It considers not just the monetary value of the project, but also the social, political, and environmental concerns surrounding each system.

ELEC1310

This first year electrical engineering course provides the fundamentals of circuit design. The content includes both DC and AC circuit analysis of passive and active components. Resistors, capacitors and inductors are studied in depth, as well as operational amplifiers, with the major project based on circuit design using these components.
